Goals and Future Plans
Thinking about the great accomplishment it has been to complete my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, I have some immediate, in the next year, and longer-term goals for myself to keep up the learning, leadership, and motivation for myself.
In the immediate future I want to think about my professional learning and make a plan for myself to keep up with technology, really for the rest of my career. I now consider it as part of a healthy way of maintaining my life-long learner status which I feel passionate about modeling for my community. I know it’s going to be a challenge to stay accountable to myself and to stay connected outside of my graduate program. This is why I’m making it a top priority to plan soon after graduation. I want use the momentum of the program to continue the brain stimulation I have gotten so used to. This will help me model 21st century learning and parallel process that I often talk about with teachers I work with. Talk the talk and walk the walk!
In the next year, I plan to position myself in my ECE consultant role as an official technology expert. I want to continue to explore ways that technology can be seen and used in positive ways for hesitant preK teachers and continue to integrate technology use into content that I’m already training and facilitating on. I plan to do this by continuing to operationalize the technology tools and learning I’ve been engrossed in for the past year and a half. I know that staying deeply connected and knowledgeable to the work I’m presenting helps me be the change agent I want to be for teachers that have trusted me with their professional learning.
Finally, in the longer term, I hope to continue to stay connected to my colleagues, continue to build my social media presence, and continue to stay relevant with my technology use and knowledge. Currently my consultant status works great for my growing family but I do hope that once my young children are a bit older that I return full time to the workforce. I’m interested to see where the skills I have developed in technology, adult learning, facilitating, and leadership development might take me (stay tuned)...
